Can I map a network drive to acm?
Of course.
acm runs Samba, a popular smb service.
Samba alows other computers, using operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, and Linux, to
connect to shares on the host server.
To map a network drive in Windows, 'right-click' the 'My
Computer' icon on the desktop and select 'Map Network Drive...' The window
that pops up has a few things to take notice of.
Drive: You need to pick the drive letter you wish to assign to this
network drive.
Folder: Enter the network path to the folder you wish to connect to.
(example: \\acm.cs.uwec.edu\username )
The arrow points to something important. The user that you log into as on your computer
is different from your user account on acm. Make sure you click the text so
you can enter your username and password. If you do not know your
username and password, email the admin.
Finally, you can click Finish and hopefully everything works out fine.
If not, you can send an email to the admin to ask questions.
